Outreach volunteer program (ovp)

Outreach volunteers can contribute to improving access to information, assistance delivery and the overall protection environment, with the additional benefit of building on the skills, capacities and knowledge of the refugee community and empowering them to play a central role in improving living conditions.

engaging men through accountable practice (emap)

Engaging Men through Accountable Practice (EMAP) is a one-year program by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) designed to prevent gender-based violence. It helps to engage men in positive behavior change, guided by women's voices. The Accountable Practice framework ensures that male engagement supports, rather than harms, women and girls.

With support from UNHCR Malaysia, CSB has conducted four EMAP cohorts in Kota Tinggi and Kulai, Johor, benefiting 92 Rohingya and Myanmar Muslim men and women. This initiative promotes safer, more equitable communities by addressing harmful norms and fostering positive change.

We collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to effectively address the root causes of vulnerability within the community and empower individuals to build resilience. Our partnerships include Polis Diraja Malaysia, specifically their D11 team and Special Branch, as well as the Ministry of Health, healthcare professionals, counselors, NGOs, and community members. By working together, we provide comprehensive support, from protection and mental health care to advocacy and capacity-building, ensuring a holistic approach to lasting change.
