Cahaya Surya Bakti

Cahaya Surya Bakti (CSB) envisions a compassionate and inclusive society where refugees in Johor are empowered to lead dignified and resilient lives through equitable access to education, protection, and support.

OUTREACH CENTRE

As a pioneering hub in southern Malaysia, the centre serves an estimated 30,000 asylum seekers and refugees, offering a comprehensive range of services to tackle their multifaceted challenges through Community-Based Protection (CBP), case management with a focus on child protection and Gender-based Violence (GBV), and psychosocial support. The centre also facilitates access to healthcare and connects individuals with services from partners such as UNHCR and various NGOs, while continuously promoting community empowerment. Moreover, the project actively supports asylum seekers and refugees in addressing issues like exploitation, including Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), and other protection concerns.

EDUCATION

Cahaya Surya Bakti (CSB) is committed to providing quality education to a diverse population of asylum seekers and refugees in Johor. Operating five schools in Kempas, Pekan Nanas, Kota Tinggi, Kluang, and Muar, CSB offers pre-primary, primary, and secondary education primarily to Rohingya students, alongside other refugee groups. Notably, CSB is the first organization to create a pathway that enables refugee children—especially those from the Rohingya community—to access tertiary education in the Philippines.
